I knew this old thread was in here somewhere. As many of you know, following my "Holy crap, I'm fucking unfit" revelation on the night of this thread's first post I threw myself pretty seriously into training and playing rugby again. In the past year I've worked bloody hard, and dealt with some painful and frustrating injury too. Well, on Saturday it was all worth it, as my team won the Grand Final of South Australia's Second Division rugby competition. When the ref blew the final whistle, I was almost too tired to celebrate. But I did.
That is all. |

Simon's team had cellphones to plan their backline moves and were getting calls from their buddies on the sideline who were interpreting the other team's lineout calls and tactics.

Thanks everyone. It's been quite a year - the effort of going from being an essentially useless fill-in at training to being a playing member of a divisional champs team has been very rewarding. Bloody hard work though. I've sweated off a lot of pounds this year, as well as going through what must be many cubic metres of ice packs and grams of Voltaren.
I think Trvln's marathon is the greater physical achievement, though |

Well whaddya know, almost 13 years later and once more I've agreed to "come out for a run" to make up the numbers in a club game on Saturday. I am older, slower, and less fit than last time.
I'm going to fucking die. Again. |
